  Fire in the market were mostly the handiwork of night market security guards. Their MO is to break into many expensive shops from after 12 midnight , load their goods in a waiting trucks and after their trucks leaves then they set the shops alight with petrol. They will select shops that have expensive merchandise, steal money left in the shop from the previous day sales & load expensive goods in the waiting trucks and put fire in the market.

  I've heard disturbing rumors that many market fires are intentionally started by the traders themselves. Allegedly, some traders take out loans from banks, and when they realize they can't repay them, they resort to arson. I also find it intriguing that the prophets who made predictions on December 31st didn't foresee this devastating market fire.
