The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Richard Ahiagbah, has stated that God will not pardon the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) if they dismiss Ghanaians who were legitimately recruited after the Dec. 7, 2024 elections.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, on February 12, 2025 issued a directive revoking all appointments and recruitments made into the public service establishments after December 7, 2024.

Debrah, in the directive, requested all heads of government institutions to take necessary steps to annul these appointments and recruitments into public offices.

The move, according to the Chief of Staff, was consistent with the government's stance on near-end-of-tenure appointments and recruitments, which were deemed non-compliant with established good governance practices and principles.

A comprehensive report on the actions taken is expected to be submitted to the Office of the Chief of Staff by February 17, 2025.

But commenting on the issue in an interview with Joy News, Richard Ahiagbah stated that God will deal with the NDC should they go ahead and sack the affected workers who applied for jobs and were legitimately employed.

"God will not forgive NDC if they dismiss these Ghanaians who have done nothing but to offer themselves to serve. God will not forgive the NDC, and I am telling them. If they choose to take that advice it will help them, but I hope they don't. And if they go ahead the consequences will be very clear."

He also reminded President Mahama that before leaving office in 2016, he increased the allowances of NSS personnel by GHS 200, a move that became a liability to the NPP government, yet they accepted it.

The NDC were talking about employment after December 7. This is a dangerous thing that we are talking about. That you have a mandate that runs course that the new president does not take office until on the 7th January when he is sworn in. So, Akufo-Addo is the president of this republic effectively at the time those appointments were made. John Mahama His Excellency will be president to run the full course until January 7, 2029. Any decision he takes after any election whether his party wins or not, will be upheld. The NDC in 2016, made appointments far into December. 19th December they appointed three heads of institutions - NCCE, CHRAJ and Auditor-General were appointed. We upheld those appointments, the NDC on 20th December 2016, increased national service allowance about GHC200. That liability to put on the in-coming government, we upheld them because it was a legitimate government of this state that made those decisions.
