NO it does not work that way. Prosecutors have wide powers and can behave recklessly with no punishment.

Many of Trumps cases were useless but the prosecutors charged anyway. From the New York case for instance, the Prosecutors were not able to present his offence anyway but they prosecuted and judge shopped to secure a conviction.
This conviction they knew will be overturned on appeal but they don't care.
With the Selormey case as you say, a lot of evidence was hidden which would have made it difficult for the judge to find him guilty but there is no way the defence can squeeze that out of them.
They will just deny and the judge will go along saying we cannot go into the prosecutors head.
If the defence bring counter evidence, the judge will just say it is the prosecutors case not the defendants case so the defendant cannot be making a case or assume the rights of the prosecutor.
Prosecutors are very powerful people.

The courts have set many people free, but the few politicians jailed are always said to have been jailed wrongly and unfairly(political persecution).

Why did ex-President Kuffour killed Victor Selormey and also tried to kill Tsatsu Tsikata without full due process by keeping sick men in jail because he political witch-hunting. Why did ex-President Mill refused to go after corrupt people in Kuffour's government - there was absolutely not a single arrest for all the abuses and lootings done in Kuffour's time in office. So Kuffour and all his officials were perfect angels - President Mill woefully failed Ghanaians in that respect. Less than 90 days to hand over power, Kuffour had the courage to change the cedi and also devalue the cedi by 10, 000 times with the introduction of a Ghana New Cedis , when then becomes equal to one US dollar. That caused a serious damage to our Ghana 's economy and Kuffour quickly hand over to Pres Mills after looting the new cedis that he printed. Akuffo Addo also came and printed 100 and 200 cedis bills and looted as much as he can. They need to be arrested and trail in a fast court quickly and let those are for jail start serving their time in jail and let those that will die in jail, also die in jail. There are so many that, some will have to serve in other Prisons outside Nsawam. Mahama should not waste time for us in setting up a special court to fast track this high profile suspect for trial as we have no time to waste.

They siphoned the funds & transferred them to one Prof Boadu in Texas in the US for their personal use. There were several corruption charges against him and in one case he negotiated to pay the stolen money back.
