  When the M1 was about to be constructed some of us made the suggestion that instead of footbridges underground pedestrian crossing should have been the best.
  In a rejoinder to an article I wrote that footbridges are things of the past.
  In some countries on can still see footbridges, but they are not the type we have in Ghana where crossing a road becomes a punishment for a person who does not have a vehicle.
  In advance countries footbridges are flat and are mostly above railway lines were the place the railway line is passing is shallow.
  The most interesting thing is that our footbridges are constructed in areas were the land is elevated and not shallow.
