Does it make sense to you if parents are denied contribution by way of monetary or others like advise etc? I was a parent at Legon Presec during your shamefully shambolic FREE SHS nonsense days and I cannot compare it to my same parenthood of my two other daughters at Wesley Girls and Holy Child respectively pre FREE SHS. And all of that nonsense was done for political expediency. Thankfully Ghanaians punished you severely with a frequency modulation of 38.2 megahertz Osono radio.

Britain which is more advanced in Education than Ghana still uses the GCE Ordinary and Advanced level system for admission into their universities.

PTA is an independent body with a choice to pay levies or not to pay levies in support of wards welfare in schools and that gov.has only a choice to advise it but not to cancel or call for the payment of the levy. PTA first gave teachers in schools food before gov.takeover and must therefore remain as independent to set out such helpful moves . PTA knows the immediate needs of wards than the gov. and must remain independent. PTA's prompt responses to wards support is far exceeding and must be promoted to continue .

In GES schools, PTA is what we are used to. Teachers and parents have meetings but Teachers are mostly the leaders here. The advantage is that teachers are more active participants but the disadvantage is that they can abuse the system/ parents in their favour. Some private schools even levy parents to expand their infrastructure even though it's their private property!
In international schools even in Ghana, some don't run PTA's at all. The school management is professionally run and individual PTM ( parent teacher meetings similar to open day but more detailed) is done. Some have PA's, parent led associations and that gives parents more power. Feedback is sent to the school for implementation. It's an advancement compared to PTA.
However, change is difficult. Let's see how this new system runs
