Anything wholly government is not handled well apart from unnecessary government interferences. Thank you.

Is it that the technicians have not been come out to read the meter or have not come to collect the bill? Simple solution, change meters at residential homes to pre-paid meters. That will minimize the problem of meter readings. If private participation is on the table, this should go through competitive bidding process. And we should have multiple firms engaged in the activity, not one single entity like we have Zoomlion, a monopoly in garbage collection.

Nobody comes to my house to read meter, but I receive bill every month via sms. The most interesting thing is that anytime I reduce my consumption that is the time the bill goes higher.

It's good to involve HONEST private participation in govt utilities to enhance efficiency but please don't make the 'mistake 'Nigeria made. The then rulling party (PDP) splitted the power outfit to, among others, eleven distribution companies called DISCOS. They shared the DISCOS to crooks of the party only and signed a strangulating agreement unfavourable to the public. Today, more than 16 years gone by electricity hasn't improved in Nigeria. The DISCOS are so woeful and govt cannot get out because the agreemt is such that, to opt out, govt will have to compensate them with trillions of Naira. Nigerians are not helping because even when Prepaid metres were introduced most people are bypassing and consuming for free. Thos still on postpaid connive with the DISCOS staff to cheat. It's a collosal failure. So even with private participation, Ghana govt should be in full control. Introduce prepaid meter only if you can prevent bypassing. That is to ensure that even if power is tapped at any point the current will still go through the metre and be billed appropriately. This can take time and in phases.
