  The idea of national service was for 18 months of military training and was adopted by Ghana and Singapore.
  Unfortunately for Ghana at the early implementation stage our sister Nigeria discovered crude oil which resulted in mass departure of our teaming youth to Nigeria and thus creating a vacuum in our work force. A solution to fill the vacuum so created was to split the national service period into 2 parts. First 9 month after the them upper 6th form of secondary education to teaching and the second part after tertiary education to the military training.
  Singapore on the other hand implemented and developed upon it by making it compulsory for all her nationals between ages 18 and 24 with the option to defer up to age 26.
  With this military training they have been able to manage and control corruption.
  Resetting national service back to its original purpose is laudable but must not be short time but full time if we are to fight corruption in this country.

  National Service integrated with basic military training exist in several countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. It is a laudable program that allows the National Service to contribute towards the development of the country in various sectors, such as health, engineering, construction, agriculture and do forth to meet productivity target. It is justifiable.

  With this ailing economy you inherited, Mahama never think to train national service personnel to acquire any self skills in the areas like agriculture, so that Ghana can produce enough food to cut down cost of living to reduce the country's dependence on foreign goods and food.
  But military to combat what in the future.
  Train the people to combat hunger, poverty and the likes instead.
  That would better relieve the nation from the economic mess we find ourselves today

  Gideon is a lazy chap.
  These are the people who wants to be employed directly by the State after School.
  I believe the training will in-still self discipline and help curb lazy people who want quick money.
