They left yes, but how. Ɛna vis a vis deɛn deɛn...dont read a text book and come and say what you think. Visit the sources in the archives and give proper details. In the historians craft there's a caution when interviewing witnesses to an event; you must be aware of their biases as well as the possibility of feedback i.e. the interviwed might have their account adulterated because they have bought into the narrative that has become filtered through time. This is this guy's predicament. He gets some right...but more be garnishing and sensationalism.
