President Mahama told us Ghana was what he termed, a crime Scene. How then could he keep such an overseer of a Crime Scene to remain at post. Dampare was people's IGP, his communication with ordinary people on the street was exceptional. It was Dampare who patrolled with his men at Kwahu easter festival making sure holiday makers were secured. It was during Dampare's tenure that I saw that IGP shared jokes with ordinary Ghanaians, as in the past, you see IGP during 6th March parade and other major events. In Ghana you will be hated if your actions prevent people from getting illegal sources of income. This is what I think many of the policemen themselves didn't like him. He's a man and may have his highs and lows but he will be remembered for bridging the gab between the civilians and the police service in general. Few days ago he visited the family of the knust student who was killed by his boyfriend and there are other murdered cases he visited and consoled the family and assured them of police going into the bottom of the case to ensure justice.
