I personally don't have a clear opinion on whether Dampare was good or bad! What I do know, is that, in Ghana, if both NPP and NDC parties both agree they don't like you, then you must be doing something right! He had so many enemies within NPP and they even wanted to change him prior to the elections but for the optics! Then he has so many enemies in NDC who wanted him out immediately after the elections! That tells me, the guy is neither left nor right! something Ghana badly needs in this extremely polarized country! In that sense, he is good. Better character than the confused political elites in NPP and NDC.

I hated the police in Ghana. I was sure they'd never change. They never did their job. This changed somehow when this man arrived on scene. Of course, a lot of things, like bribery but this is an endemic Ghanaian situation. Armed robbery hasn't stopped but attenuated to a certain level. The whole Ghana is a melange of several failures at different levels and needs time, and Dampare hasn't a magic wand to stem all this overnight.

We will see what the coming IGP will do.

He has transformed the Ghana Police Service and Ghana has seen CRIME going down to the lowers ebb. Not everyone will like his leadership style and a leader who wants to please everyone is doomed to be a failure. He has achieved so much and deserves to be praised. He is a true HERO. The man has a PhD in some area that will still be beneficial to Ghana or with an international body. He can even lecture at a University if he prefers to do so. For those less educated than him, will it not be better for them to upgrade themselves academically and get along better in their lives?. He has served his country as a security officer.
