Please K Tsin, yes it was Kofi Antubam who designed the Presidential Seat. Please before Ghana became a Republic, Dr Nkrumah commissioned Kofi Antubam, whom Dr Nkrumah appointed as the State Artist in 1957 and the Art and Crafts teacher at Achimota school and head of the Art and Crafts department at Achimota school to design 3 Presidential Seats for Ghana. Kofi Antubam designed the Asesegua stool, the Seat of of State, now referred to as the Presidential Seat. It was wooden but overlaid with gold.The Presidential Seat was was first used by President Nkrumah on 5th July 1960 at the State opening of the first Parliament of the first Republic. Kofi Antubam also designed the two Asipim chairs, the Chairs of State now used by the Vice President. The Chair of State was first used by President Nkrumah on 1st July 1960 when he swore the oath of office holding in his right hand nthe State Sword.President Nkrumah used the Chair of State at various sittings of Parliament. The s3s3 wood was brought from Swedru to Achimota. Please Kofi Antubam also designed the solid gold State Sword which President Nkrumah used to swear the oath of office on 1st July 1960 and which is used to swear in by Presidents of Ghana. Kofi Antubam also designed the Mace of Parliament Please President Mahama, those that you gave the money to, please what role did they play in constructing the Presidential Seat.?

This is exactly what I have also read from H. Nii Abbey's book "Kofi Antubam and the myth around Ghana's presidential seat". He indicates that one Opanyin Kwadwo Duah, a carver from Kumasi was employed by Kofi Antubam to work on the seat at Achimota School. He brought a sese wood from Kumasi and started the carving but left shortly after back to Kumasi when he received a telegram about his mother-in-law passing. Duah never returned to finish the work so Kofi Antubam discarded his unfinished work and employed another carver, Papa Kojo Bambil from Swedru who brought a new sese wood that eventually became the presidential seat.
Apparently, in 2000 Duah worked with his son Kwabena Kusi Appiah to carve another presidential chair which was presented to President Kufuor at Manhyia by the chief of Ahwiaa. Now the question to ask is: When did Ghana stop using the original seat designed by Kofi Antubam?
