The structures must be cleared at the expense of the violators. Secondly, but more importantly, those who approved the building and all inspectors involved must be sanctioned. The sanctions must include outright dismissal from their posts. Custodial punishment should be considered as well. Their actions have resulted in huge financial loss to the nation as a whole and individuals in particular.

Since Kufour s time whenever there are floods it is attributed to building on waterways, buildings are then demolished and the following month the floods resurface again. I thought President Mahama and the NDC had ideas and will not repeat this old knee jerk demolition of structures on waterways that has never worked.What this country needs are drains in the neighborhoods that discharge into major drains. lagoons that receive water from these storm drains need to be desilted followed by a ban on plastics (single use) and recycling of plastics and lorry Tyres that are choking existing drains.

President Mahama, please abandon this water guards idea, it sounds like a joke, it is bound to fail. How can water guards face these galamseyers? I am getting disappointed, shocked and confused.

I was at the Forestry commission offices near GIMPA recently and I was shocked at the huge number of people who work at the commission. I saw scores of young ladies loitering in the corridors of the offices conversing, fidgeting with their phones and others conversing during working hours. I was really shocked moreso when I look back at the state of our forests and how much government has to dish out to pay salaries for all these ladies who obviously just sit behind a table and pretend to be working. God save Ghana
