I dare the office of the Vice President or that of the President to name the doctors who recommended that the VP be taken abroad for further treatment. Much as we all don't know what ailment the VP was or is suffering from, I suspect that some opportunists in the bureaucracy are exploiting the VPs illness by jumping the gun to announce further treatment abroad for her, only so that they can tag along and make some cool per diem. As the VP seems to have considerably regained her composure, she should come out and clear the air on this matter which if not checked, can lead to further repetitions.

The hospital stay for just one day in New York city is $3,700. Add the cost of lab services specialists, nursing care and other services and only a very very select few in Ghana can pay up. Certainly not a retired university professor. A prolonged hospital stay for even two weeks for something complicated involving surgery can cost over 500,000 USD. Don't lie to your self about it. The taxpayers of Ghana will spend far far far more money treating one person abroad, be it Bawumia or Professor Naana. That money would have yielded far greater outcomes for thousands of Ghanaians at UGMC . It's a pity that we don't learn lessons about building a just and sustainable Ghana for ALL Ghanaians.

In any case, who decides the fate of the sick? Is it public opinion or the person involved or his medical team? Why are we quick to run evil commentary on politically exposed persons when it comes to matters of their health? Don’t we have Ghanaians being flown out daily to seek medical attention?
Care must be taken when we talk without knowing the nitty gritty of it. The fact that certain information is kept out of public discussion doesn’t mean there isn’t anything happening. It’s only when it’s put there that we are aware.
Let’s be careful how we always come at people and talk out of ignorance. Did the Kufour family come out to tell us JAK has health issues? No!, but didn’t we all see him one day sitting in an electric chair? I’m sure that if the family had been charitable by way of information, Ghanaians would have roasted and bad mouthed JAK to the extent that he probably would have lost it by now.
Black Rasta is a fine gentleman, but when it comes to certain realistic issues, he loses it. The microphone is before him and must be used to educate his audience and listeners, and not to incite them.
