  This is exactly the kind of things Parliamentarians are expected to do instead of being given money to develop their constituencies (which is the responsibility of the Distric Assemblies). Parliamentarians should address overarching national issues.

  Unfortunately with this announcement, the realities on the ground , the every day experience for the ordinary staffs and patients will be out of site before they get there. Wards will be cleaned and possibly painted before the visit... a lot of this will be put in place.
  It should be periodic and unannounced.

  This is a good idea but a waste of time and public funds. All members of the committee know the deplorable conditions of those hospitals, if not, all they need to do is visit those in Accra and/or ask themselves, why they have to go abroad (India, UK, USA South Africa, etc) for medical treatment? The funds used to send our politicians abroad can and should be used to equip and improve the regional hospitals in order for them to provide the needed care for all Ghanaians at home (in Ghana).
