First if I am not mistaken there are TWO BAWKU NABAs currently. One from the little I know is a Kusag who has been there for a long time. Then I think in 2023, the Nayiri enskinned another Bawku Naba and when the newly enskinned Bawku Naba tried to enter Bawku there was bloody clashes and I remember the govt at that time ordered for his arrest, but eventually, he is also in Bawku as Bawku Naba.
Now from your submission the Nayiri has the sole right to enskinned Bawku Naba and has done so on 15th occasions, so now my question is
Why Two Bawku Nabas?

@gh8, According to Nayiri bawku stool was vacant and there were no chief in bawku. the one you refer to as the first chief was not inskined by any traditional council but rather pndc government led by jj rawlings and the late john ndebugri who was the mp for zebila at that time, nayiri has been the rightfully king who inskined the bawku tittle since 1712 to date. until after independence when nkrumah uninstall the then 14th bawku naba just because he believed the nayiri didn't help him to gain independence from the British and his reason was the then nayiri and the British were working together, so after nkrumah uninstall the 14th bawku naba he then proceed in making this kusasi current chief, his father the chief of bawku. after the liberation movement staged coup agaist nkrumah, they setup a committee to look into chieftaincy conflicts as at that time, who nkrumah forcefully removed and who were those he inskined through political powers. bawku chieftaicy were not left out and the then kusasi chief who were inskined by nkrumah was also removed and declare as a commoner until he died. so the nayiri seems they were no chief in bawku thats why he install his son to the bawku to continue from where his ancestors stop.

There are some chiefs outside the Northern/North East Region that are enskinned by the Nayiri and they are his legitimate right, Bawku is one of them.

Our traditional chieftaincy is not based on who majority wants as a chief. It is about being eligible to be a chief which is based on family lineage. The Bawku chieftaincy has always been occupied by the legimate princes who happened to be mamprusis. Kwame Nkrumah caused a problem and illegitimately made one Kusasi man a chief and that was when the conflict started.

1. There are six administrative districts in the entire Bawku zone.
2. The most common language in the six administrative districts is the Kusaal language.
3. No one speaks Mampruli in Bawku. Even in the Mamprusi area, they speak Moore, the language of the Mossi people of Burkina Faso.
4. Mamprusis are found in Bawku Municipal and Binduri district as minority.
5. Mamprusis occupy less that 1% of the total land area of the 6 administrative districts.

My take
It is virtually impossible for the Mamprusi to think they can rule over the Kusaasi people who make up over 75% of the 6 administrative districts and control much of the economic powers of the area.
The Mamprusi can best be e skinned as Mamprusi tribal chief of Bawku but not seeking to rule over the six districts. That is a future impossible possible impossibility.
