Therefore ghc2 was 20,000 cedis. Today $1 is equivalent to ghc15 so the 20,000 is equivalent to 300,000 cedis in today's value. I reckon Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah might have been born about 30 years before 2007. Note also that inflation rose quickly after the redenomination of the cedi. Ghc 2 (20,000 cedis) was no chicken feed then.

I am sure that if the so called modern women would not be obstacles in the way of the African men, they would responsibly take care of their so called side chicks. My father was doing well to start with and he brought the twins at the age of 8 to join the family. In a few years time his business collapsed and things were tough in the family. The family of 8 had to depend on the salary of my nursing mother whilst the twins mother was having all the fun with no responsibility to take care of.

My mother was struggling taking care of 8children on her meagre nurses salary. She did her best to send the twins to Public School (cyto) because she couldn't afford to be crediting private sector school fees for 8 children when the twins mother was using her money to buy clothes and big wigs for her boyfriends.

Till today my mother is accused of being responsible for the my half brother/sister twins not having a good education and that she treated them badly. Recently, my mother now in her 90s explained to me "Kwesi, I was struggling with 6 of my own children, their school fees, feeding , hospital bills and how does anyone expect me to take care of somebody's own children at my expense. Your dad's business has collapsed. yes its his children but it cannot be at my expense. I did not ask him to go side-chicking. If you going to go side-chicking be prepared to pay the financial price and not make it another person's expense.

I'm not responsible for your twin brother and sister not going to secondary school. What was their mother doing that she couldn't do something to take care of her children? Don't market women sell in the market to educate their children to University. I'm not responsible for how your twin sister and brother turned out. First blame your dad. He was the one who went side-chicking and couldn't cater for the results of his adventures, and secondly blame the twins mother. In the end they had to be returned from Accra to the village back to their mother. I have no regrets" my mother said!
