This is a good move and it is in a right direction. Be it as it may, Christians do not pray to a man but to God. One thing about prayer is that it is essentially meant to change the people that pray, toward the direction and will of God but not to change God. Let us embrace it. This government may not be in power forever. If they initiate a good thing, the nation must recognize it and flow with it. My humble opinion.

I am a devout Christian but I am sad this morning to hear from the Ndc led by his Excellency President John Dramani Mahama instituting a national day of prayer on every 1st of July. Really? With the atrocities witnessed in the aftermath of the 2024 elections and the massive house raids of opposition parties members by the National security operatives under the watchful eyes of the President a national prayer of thanksgiving unity is now being proclaimed. Prayer for national unity in the face of intimidation, victimisation, harassment, discrimination, violence, oppression, persecution and personal vendetta? President Mahama must be joking. God is looking to hear prayers from those who are truly humbled in heart but not hypocritical and showing good face to the world as the Pharisees and the Sadducees were doing and were rebuked by our Lord Jesus Christ.
It’s worrying that the so called men of God whose cacophonous noises were heard on rooftops against injustices in the country during Akuffo Addo’s era are now quiet and are now going to pray for national unity. I will admonish my fellow Christians to pray in their closest rather than going to the forecourt of the State House to join the hypocrites who just want to deceive God.
