  More importantly, we all know that both the AU and its subordinate agencies achieve very little or nothing at all for the continent it is supposed to represent. This unfortunate comatose condition of the AU, plays considerably in favour of those who wish to keep Africa down, exploited and underdeveloped. Isn't this problem what we should focus our attention to, instead of glorifying meaningless appointments which to all intents and purposes will not accomplish any good for the people of Africa. Having said that, don't we think that an African Medical and Health Standards Authority or Agency should precede the AMA - that is if we already don't have one that is peacefully and quietly hibernating to no useful end in the gloomy bureaucratic labyrinth of the AU?
