In fact the problem of our nation is mostly due to the stupidity, lack of common sense and low IQ of our voters such as those who try to defend the embassy staff and the ambassador. They are too blind and too corrupt to see anything wrong with a staff of the embassy who is the owner of the company solely responsible for the application and delivery for visas issued by the embassy.

The fees charged is not just for delivery, it includes service fees on top of the official fees prescribed by the government. They try to call it courier service to sound like they are just charging for delivery. Do they even have the logistics capabilities to perform the physical delivery of passports? Don't they engage USPS, DHL or UPS for the delivery? They are just charging extra money for no reason and sharing the money among themselves including the persons in charge of the embassy.

Unless you were born yesterday else you would know that in Ghana all the people in the organisation share the bribes or illegal proceeds. The higher the position you are within the organisation the bigger the share. Unfortunately, this is happening in most of our institutions and not limited to the embassy. Go to the lands commission and it's also a crime scene there

The root cause of our problem is that most of the voters are educated and smart enough to vote for the right people into public offices. And because of the lack of education and any useful skills, most are so poor that they need to depends on favours and protocols from the politicians to sustain their lives or to get a job. Their votes are easily bought and will also vote for the politicians who give them money or jobs regardless how corrupt the politicians are. The majority of the voters are easily brain washed due to their own self interests and lack of brain power.

And unfortunately they are so poor and uneducated because their parents are poor and uneducated and did not spend their time and resources in educating their children. Majority of those fathers will rather spend the little money they have no women and alcohol. Some will rather give money at the funeral or churches to gain empty praises than pay for the school fees. As the results poverty passes down to their children. It's common to see that a poor man or woman in Ghana have 5 or more children. Obviously they do not have the means or abilities to care for all the children but they prioritise their sexual pleasures over the welfare of their children. After the death of the parents the little estate left by the parents will have to be shared by the large number of children and each will get next to nothing.

Look at the global statistics. There is a direct correlation between wealth and average IQ. There is also a inverse correlation between a country's wealth and birth rate. We seems to be in the wrong side of the numbers.

The starting point of fixing our country is to improve our voters brains. Without that the number of partisan, unreasonable, illogical voters are just too many to have a useful democracy in Ghana.

It was stated very clearly that you mail your passport to the DC embassy with a return stamped enclosed. The only thing the embassy staff needs to do is to put back your renewed passport or visa into your envelope provided with a stamped and drop off post office. My passport was in the DC embassy for many months in 2018 and I had to recalled the passport back without being renewed. I did not have to pay any additional, they used the affixed stamped envelope to mail my package. My passport was finally renewed when I sent it to New York in 2029.

Additionally Fred Kwarteng made the applicant have no other option to get their passports back except to pay about $31 for the return package. I have been victim of their scheme. The applicant should have mailing options, for example; express, priority, 2day delivery or even first class delivery.

So, I believe he is not happy about the fact that the ambassador awarded the contract to an employee of the embassy. Someone asked a very good question: “was Kwarteng working for his company at the same time for the give of Ghana?” How many hours did he work each day for his company while still being employed by the embassy?

We are a very sorry people. These are the same behaviors we have as I remember in the past, during work hours people will leave their jobs and go to church. How can such attitudes be tolerated?

No courier service is needed at all. Ghanaian policians must be smart enough to help this country move forward. Politicians sign such contracts because they benefit from it. Its very sad they think about themselves but not about the progress of the people who elect them.

This Alima Mahama is a liar and a thief. She knows what she is saying is not true. I was a victim of this very company Ghana Travel Company trick. I applied for a visa to the embassy with a self addressed returned envelope which has been the usual practice since my 32 years stay in the US, only to receive a call from this company that I filled a wrong form and that the embassy sent my documents to them to assist me with my visa. Mind you I filled this visa application form on line so I asked why is the wrong on the Ghana Embassy website. Come to find that was the trick they were playing with every applicant and instead of the 200Dollars I was to pay for expedite visa they were demanding 290 dollars an extra 90 dollars before they process my application. It was only when I threatened them with a legal action that they mailed my documents back to me. It later came to light that , this was their trick to be extorting money from visa applicants. An article was written about this in a journal that I read. I can produce that article. This was an orchestrated plot to steal from visa applicants by this liar Alima Mahama and this company. She need to be investigated brought to justice.

I personally had an issue with my American passport getting missing in transit after a Ghana visa was processed. The mailing envelope arrived with no passport nor any content.
I called the embassy to let them know what had happened and anyone that sort assistance from the Ghana embassy in Washington DC knows the embassy’s phone system is a mobile phone with a full mailbox, so you can’t leave a message. The envelope’s adhesive-seal had opened and a wrong type of envelope was used.
I drove to the embassy and the gateman gave me Kwateng’s agency number and address to contact them.
I called and a secretary told me there’s nothing they could do and her boss would get back to me. After months of calling daily he finally picked up my call and advised me to reapply for a replacement passport.
I got a replacement passport from the US Department of State and this time around I called his office not to mail it and I would be picking it up myself in his office. Even though I picked up my passport from their office in Maryland, my return courier service fee wasn’t refunded.
It was a scheme known to the then President of Ghana, the minister of foreign affairs Ayorkor Botwe, the then ambassador, this same moron of a woman Alima Mahama, etc.
These people are just too evil.

There is more corruption going on in Ghana that needs to be addressed and I don't think anybody in the US had a problem with the $20 or something mailing fee. In the past an applicant had the option to visit the embassy in person without paying any courier fees. But that was changed and only one company, owned by an employee of the embassy could do the courier service.

His company just charge extra fees above the official fees for the visa application. Pay the official fees and the for the courier services provided by others and share the profit among themselves (embassy staff and the ambassador).

Even if the contract and their operation is legitimate, is it right for Kwarteng to share the money with the ambassador? It's obvious that she is doing pre-emptive attack because the prosecution found that she is benefiting from the scheme. Even if it is legally permissible.for her to gain benefit from the contract which earns over 4 million USD a year, did she declare this income and pay proper tax to the GRA in Ghana?

Does the ambassador has the power and authority to enter into a contract with a company solely owned by a staff of the embassy to provide the sole service of visa applications? The extra fees and charges is only courier fees?

According to a BBC report, one scheme reportedly increased passport fees from $230 to $400 and visa fees from $130 to $230. Does it cost over $100 USD to simply mail a passport or visa?????

This concept includes the fact that an employee cannot use his or official working hours to conduct private business. I’m explaining this from my experience with City of New York where I worked as an investigator. The Department I worked for didn’t stop me from utilizing my professional license to earn extra income from a private source. However, I had to get an approval from the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner every two years. I was required to explain what services I would provide and what hours I would work for a private employer or as self-employed. That was to ensure that I didn’t use my official working hours when I was expected to be on duty to conduct private business. I could use my four weeks vacation time or Saturday and Sunday to work for a private employer. In the Ghana embassy situation, there’s nothing to indicate that the IT staff was doing or not doing courier service outside his officially working hours. That’s what we expected the lady to tell us, instead of just defending that the embassy signed a contract with the IT staff since the Embassy doesn’t provide a courier service. Can the lady swear by any deity that she never received any benefit or kickback from the IT staff?
