I disagree with this as historically incorrect just as the Kumasehene is wrongly referred to by many Ghanaians as the Asantehene, and even by some as the King of Ghana. I have lived and worked at Kyebi and know that the Kyebihene as the Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa and not the Okyehene. He cannot lord over, and dictate to the Paramount Chiefs of Akyem Kotoku and Akyem Bosome? Anyway, do we have Kings in Ghana or Paramount Chiefs? How many Kings will we have in the whole of Ghana? Just asking. Don’t let our Paramount Chiefs assume Titles that are not recognized by our traditions and Constitution.

I know the history of the area very well because I lived and worked at ABUSCO for years and very much know the history of the area. Perhaps you may not know that one Chief of Apedwa who attended a meeting at the Palace of the Kibihene and decided to spend the night at Kibi was abducted and sacrificed to the Birim River God. That is why even in this modern era, no Apedwa Chief will spend the night at Kyebi. Go to Apedwa and find out because those abductors and murderers were smoked out many years after their crime. They were put to trial and found guilty by the Colonial Government who sentenced them to death. If you doubt ith, go to Apedwa, Asafo , Apapam, and other towns in the Akyem Abuakwa Paramountcy for verification.

I was housed at Paa Willie’s house at Panor which is opposite ABUSCO. Why do I need to be jealous of the Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa when he calls and wants to be recognized as Okyehene. I have many times corrected it that Otumfour is called the Asantehene but that is wrong. He is not over and above Nsuta,Juaben, Kokofu,and the other AMANTOUR chiefs in Asante. Research further and find out why Juaben and the rest of Asante went to war. Yes, you can learn more about why we have the BONKOBOUR and New Juaben. Do you know that the people of New Juaben and their Paramount Chief do not hold themselves as subservient to the Asantehene even today. Stores, Markets, and Schools do not close down if the “Asantehene, Asantehemaa, and the mother of the “Asantehene “ dies or there is such a royal death and or funeral. I have lived in Asante and New Juaben since the life and death of Agyemang Prempeh II and those who came after him.
