  . They are just trying to decieve whilst the ruling elite continue to steal our children's futures. What we need is 24 hour government, leaders of national industry see if they like to be awake all night then unable to sleep in the heat and the noise of the day.

Listening to Julius Debrah makes the effort to promote 24H-Economy so pathetic. Which investor is simply coming to invest here because of an assurance that Ghana could be a gateway into Africa. You mean investors don't the pathways to doing business. And do the Chinese investors he's courting need government's encouragement to manufacture round the clock? We've heard plenty about what 24HE can deliver but hardly the HOW of its wealth creation. The question of where the "demand drive of it," is so sorely missed. 24H-Economy has simply become a cliché rolling in the months of John Mahama's appointees who lack the courage to tell the President that the idea was merely a political rhetoric that makes and has no practical sense

  The question is 'What do they do with the 24-hour economy products?' So far the government has not done anything concrete to disprove my notion that the 24-hour economy is just a deceptive slogan. With or without 24-hour economy initiative, no business wanting to make profit will run 8 hrs when the demand is higher than supply. That's why factories in Ghana are already running 24/7. Hospitals run 24/7 because patients come in everyday and night. The police run 24/7 because criminals operate 24/7. How does a supermarket balance sales with operation cost when they run night shifts whiles their customers are home sleeping? How do you convince someone to come and buy your product at night when he/she knows it's convenient to do it the next day. How would government operate non-profit state departments which are not providing critical services to run 24/7? and how would they sustain the government payroll? Long story short, there's nothing like 24-hour economy policy anywhere. What governments do is to create an enabling environment that businesses can exploit and expand production at their own pace. What the NDC government is trying to do is tantamount to the proverbial 'Forcing the donkey to the river'. Expending taxpayers money on incentives for businesses willing to run 24/7 without guarantee of the market for the goods is nothing but causing financial lost to the state and eminent layoff of workers. Supporting businesses is the way to go, but doing so to hood wink them to the 24-hour economy by hook or crook to fulfill a manifesto promise is where they got it wrong.
