  He was a truly great man. He was an excellent goalkeeper and always inspired confidence in the team and in the fans. I first got to know of him in the early 80s, when he gave awe-inspiring performance for his then club, Stationary Stores football of Lagos against Union Doula of Cameroon in Yaounde, where his legendary saves, including a penalty, ensured a memorable draw for his team. I never forgot him from that day. Gone too too too soon, rest well Rufi King, will be greatly missed! As a Nigerian, I truly mourn the passing of this great son of Africa.
