When you scam your way to power, inability to create jobs would expose you big time. After terminating workers appointments you’re now pleading with the private sector. Incompetent government!

  The wages in the public sector in Ghana is too high, and private sector cannot compete for good workers

  Reduce the utility rates and taxes for SMEs so they can have some space and capacity to employ more. Also sensitize and advice Ghanaian workers to be truthful and hard working.

  The jobs are available but the youth do not like them. Everyone wants a government job. The taxes are too high. A small factory faces heavy taxes being imposed on entrepreneurs to pay corrupt officials. For example I import materials to manufacture goods on Ghana. I pay heft taxes, fees and charges at the port roughly 20 % . Then these organization's are always on my head GRA, 15 PETCENT OF GROSS VALUE OF SALES. THEN, OVER 20% ON MY PROFIT IF ANY. IN ADDTION THESE INSTITUTIONS CHASE ME LIKE I HAVE TAKEN GOVERMENT LOAN..FDA, MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY?, FIRE SERVICE ETC.
  LAST YEAR I IMPORTED MATERIALS AND WAS RHINKING OF HIRING MORE WORKERS BUT I COUKD NOT DO THAT BECAUSE OF THE HIGH TAXES.
  WORKERS STEALL ALOT AND ARE ALWAYS ON MY COMPUTER SENDING APPIICATIONS FOR JOBS ON MY TIME. GOVERMENT SHOULD EMBARK ON JOURNEY TO EDICATE GHANAIANS..PERHARPS ONLY 10 _20 PETCENT OF THE WORKING FORCE ARS ENGAGED IN GOVERMENT JOBS. MAJORITY OF THE WORKFORCE IN THE WESTERN WORLD ARE EMPLOYED BY THE PRIVATE SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY. MANY OF US DO NOT GET IT.

  Dr Pelpuo labour will find its own level per the forces of demand and supply, you can not just by word of mouth ask the private sector to hire more workers, it does not work that way and never has been so.Basic economics.

  What is 24-hour economy? During the first republic, some sections of the economy was operating 24 hours, and it was not a policy put in place by the president rather it was the factors of "Demand and Supply".
  
  Why is Mahama telling the private sector to hire more workers, and how do you understand by that message? Do you why people go into business?

  This is a good call and the truth but government also has to cushion existing companies with tax cut as the challenges include high cost of operation making them uncompetitive in cost.
  Over 21 taxes at the port plus high utilities charges.
  You can't expand to take extra labour force easily.
  The companies have scaled down due to financial challenges even though they may have the capacity.

  No government can force them to hire people to justify some stupid policy that doesn't make any sense. Some of these northerners should stop drinking cow milk because they are not thinking right as normal humans.

  Simple solution: instead of subsidizing loss-making SOEs, provide tax reliefs and other incentives to private enterprises. Then they will hire more employees and produce more.
