His conduct in the millitary has nothing to do with saying something we all know. Soldiers pounded fufu in Jean Mensah's home. Ghana is not at war but that doesn't mean our soldiers should be in private homes of civilians.

The Ghana Armed Forces may be in need of adfitional funding but the question we should ask of them is why?

Ghana has not been at war since God knows when. We have served in various peace missions around the world but not in the protection of the homeland which is, after all, the purpose of the military. The Ghana Armed Forces of today is not the same as the disciplined military of our fathers. Our dirty, unprincipled, tribal and illogical political preferences have laid bare recruitment of people unfit to hold the underwear of some of our sports figures into the Ghana Armed Forces. The strength of our military is discipline, cohesiveness, unitary adherence to orders and not the use of indisciplined brute force.

Ghana can afford to have a general public that is ready to serve in the Ghana military by introducing ROTC programs at the SHS and tertiary education levels while we cut down the level of servicemen; simply put we have an overbloated military a 3rd of whom are just occupying space and collecting paychecks because of politization of the Armed Forces.

The Administrators should ask Brian Acheampong about his participation in the National Guard Reserve unit in the USA. If a member of Ghana's parliament can return home to Ghana and tout his weekend warrior status as a top secret military training to become head of Ghana's security agencies then we can implement the National Guard concept in Ghana by starting ROTC programs the will supply pre-screened bodies to fill our military if and when needed.

Internal security of the nation is the sole responsibility of Ghana police service and non-military personnel. Anyone in public service below the President and Vice president can do with personnel from the police service or better yet with a contracted private security agency.
