Mahama should use the military to fight galamsey if he wants to succeed in that fight. Our military is redundant at the moment since they are not engaged internal or external conflicts presently. Recently it was announced by the minister of defense that military personnel attached to some civilian administrators are being withdrawn. This is a misplaced duty of our professional soldiers. Even Col. Aboagye alluded to the fact that some soldiers as part of their assignment have been pounding fufu in the homes of their superiors and this is an insult to the profession when these soldiers could have been engaged in constructive work. Mahama should declare illegal galamsey as an internal conflict and declare war on those galamseyers by using the military to fight them . That is the only way Ghana will succeed in containing galamsey. The political factors involved in galamsey will render the fight difficult unless Mahama relies on the military to clampdown on the menace.
