Their alawa is Ghc400 which is divided into two. Half for their feeding and half for their pocket. Using Ghc200 to provide three meals per day is woefully inadequate hence the arrangement. Because of politics, students are taking these allowances then come and stay home for 4 years without permanent postings after national service then most of them will travel abroad. Government benefiting just little from them. I am yearning for a brave President to cancel all these non-sense going on .

It shouldn't be the responsibility of taxpayers to finance them.The allowances can be used to finance free medical care for pensioners and the elderly in Ghana.

They insisted that the students needed the allowances but the government was insensitive. Event hough the government explained at the time that the money used to pay the allowances could be used to expend existing hospitals and also build new ones to create more room for them to be employed after studies but no one listened. Today we have 4 batches still sitting at home after school. Wisdom is not sold at market.

Teacher and nursing training Insituations are now degree awarding as it is in Universities. University students take government loans which they will pay after school while teachers and nurses in training are given free allowances. This decision is just for votes as it defies logic. This money could have been used to build and equip many more of such institutions to increase intake of students and provide quality teaching and learning environment.
