Your Excellency,
I write with a heavy heart — as do many citizens — following the tragic events of the past two weeks. Sixteen precious young lives were lost on the Kumasi road. A week later, two cabinet ministers, including Hon. Dr. Omane, and six others perished in a helicopter crash en route from Accra to Obuasi.

It is not just a season of mourning. It is a season of reckoning.

These heartbreaking incidents are not isolated. They are part of a wider, ongoing crisis — a crisis of infrastructure. The very roads that ought to connect us safely have become corridors of risk. For many Ghanaians, a simple journey from Point A to Point B feels like gambling with fate.

And yes, we understand that high-ranking officials must sometimes use air transport due to urgency. But let’s pause and reflect: a journey of 270km — Accra to Obuasi — should not require flight in the first place. With proper road infrastructure, that trip should take no more than two hours by car. Instead, our people endure 5-hour journeys full of anxiety, potholes, and pain.

We do not lack coal tar. We do not lack stone. And certainly, we do not lack manpower. What we need now is a renewed will — a united resolve to make our roads safe for all: the market woman, the student, the nurse, the Honourable Minister.

Mr. President, I remember seeing your convoy this past Easter, bravely navigating the ravine-ridden roads of Nsawam on your return from Kwahu. It was sobering. But it was also reassuring. You were on ground. And that is where transformation begins.

So in memory of the 16 children…
In honor of Hon. Dr. Omane and the 6 other souls we lost…
In the interest of every Ghanaian who travels each week to attend a funeral, to visit family, to chase opportunity…

We respectfully ask you to elevate the “Big Push” to a “Gigantic Push.” Not just in name, but in urgency and scope.

Let our grief not be in vain. Let this be the moment Ghana said: enough is enough.

May God bless our homeland Ghana and grant us wisdom, courage, and strength to make it amen
