They were on a national assignment to commission a government flagship programme to ensure sustainable mining practices, that will be beneficial to the state and citizens. Notwithstanding the unfortunate tragedy, the programme was commissioned and has taken off. You are now as a statesman proposing a freeze due to the fact that a tragedy has occurred while the departed souls were enroute to the commissioning? Are you not rather drawing the government back in it's bid to ensure sanity in the mining industry? Have you thought the government's interests in the mining industry and how the industry has contributed to nation building, especially the strength of the cedi against major international currencies? In as much as the tragedy is unfortunate, we should be circumspect in decisions that are likely to promote lawlessness in the mining industry, which will burden the state financially in trying to curb. We have Bawku to deal with. Let's not create more anarchy.

It's never too late to review a program The Legislative instrument for mining in the forest needs be looked at and GWSL says they spend lots of money importing chemicals to purify clean water for drinking and hence. Invmcrease in water bill is always justified.
Farmlands have all been affected and food for the population is being watched.
Again let's look at the number of earth moving machines that land at Tema Port daily are they for road construction?
By all means work but it must not be at the expense of the larger population.

Mining is a serious and expensive venture. There's nothing like a small scale mine anywhere in the world.
Every mine operator in any serious country is required to provide the nation with a bank guarantee to cover the estimated cost of rehabilitating the land in case the company fails to do so to the standard required by the conditions set out in the licence to mine. And these bank guarantees cost a lot to secure. They must be maintained for the life of the mine. That means that unless the company is rich enough to deposit the millions of dollars in an account for the life of the mine, it has to pay a hefty sum to a bank each year to maintain the guarantee.
We can continue with ridiculous terms like small scale mining, community mining and galamsey if we want to destroy the whole of our environment. There is gold almost everywhere in our land. The gold bearing rock, the Tarkwaian Belt stretches far and wide. The only reason why the whole of Ghana wasn't covered with mines is that the cost of responsibly regulated mining makes it uneconomical to mine for small amounts of gold. Reclamation and restoration is the most expensive part of mining. But if you're not required worry about that, you can just pillage the land for small pieces of gold as is happening around us.
If we don't ban galamsey and the so-called small scale mining, we should get ready to starve. Already, we can't grow food to feed ourselves. Try growing anything on the galamse lands. Not even cassava will thrive.
This just be the worst generation in Ghana.......greedy, thoughtless and totally irresponsible.
The helicopter tragedy must be poetic justice, it's nature and the spirits of our forefathers telling us that enough is enough. It's not for nothing that the Environment Minister because sacrificial victim. Maamah can't go from "declare a state of emergency over galamsey now" in November 2024 to "no need for a state of emergency now, thee galamsey fight is not a sprint, it's a marathon" in 2025 and not expect retribution!

That why we are always talking about it. Nana did his best but he was overwhelmed. Mahama is doing his best but also facing same challenges. So what we should do now is to sustain the fight just as corruption and other ills in our society. The point here is that there is no day any Governmwn can eradicate galamsey; that day corruption too will be gone. Think about that and stop calling for heads of governments instead of encouraging them to keep thier fight up.

Most young men in Ashanti region are dying from kidney diseases and the women are having birth defects as a result of these chemicals making its way from galamsey sites to water works that provides drinking water to Ghanaians. Also Ashanti region once a beacon of farm activities have been rendered useless because of lack of rain. It rains everyday in America so there are so much abundance of food. But Ashanti region where it used to rain heavily on rainy days have experienced draught. As a result maize farmers have lost almost 200 acres of farm lands due to low rain activity because of galamsey. We urged you to take action but you ignored.
