Our constitution does not recognize any kingdom and for that matter a King in Ghana. Well, the Asante People can choose to call him their King but that is not recognized by law. I know that the Asantehene is very much respected and recognized in almost all parts of Ghana but don’t let us give him attributes that are not recognized. Ghana is not a Kingdom. This is not very difficult to understand. Let the Asante people call him their King but he is not, and cannot be the King of Ghana. Other ethnic groups in Ghana respect him but don’t recognize him as their king. Will the Anlo Ewes, Dagomba, Gonja, Ga, Nzema see him as their King? They will never do that.
