The actions of Ablakwa at the time must be understood in context — the then-President was incurring excessive travel costs, many of which yielded no tangible benefit to the country. This prompted public concern over fiscal discipline. It was during that same period that the then Minister of Defence proposed acquiring a presidential jet, not a helicopter. Her criticism of Ablakwa appears misguided, and to paint Ablakwa black. If her gov't were to take proper maintenance of these helicopters maybe we may not have had this incident

When you are given money for a specific work/duty and you use it for another, naturally or as may be expected people will react or oppose when you ask for money to execute another thing, although it might be necessary but not a priority.When you use tax payers monies to dig holes, steal loads to purchase houses for your girlfriends and families abroad, steal state funds and lands, mismanage the economy and rape the state to the extent that the economy is rated as a junk one, then as may be expected there is no way that the citizens would allow you to use state funds to purchase helicopters and airplanes though they might be necessary. At such a crossroad the only decision suffering citizens will take or make would be the government bringing the economy to normalcy by cutting down expenditure (eg. spending on aircraft etc when people are hungry and prices of commodities high). Had the NPP been prudent and not mismanaged the economy, i believe nobody would have complained when the npp government wanted to purchase an aircraft. This lady better stop spewing nonsense.
