Ghana can stop galamsey in the country if our leaders want to. In Ghana, it's the politicians have allowed small scale miners to use excavators in the mining activities. In South Africa, that is also a mining country, small scale miners are not allowed to use excavators in their mining activities. In other parts of the world, small scale miners are not allowed, by law, to use excavators in mining. Why have Ghanaian politicians allowed small scale miners to use excavators to destroy our forest reserves and water bodies and then turn round to complain about the destructive activities of illegal mining in the country?
