  Why give people the honorary degrees in the first place? Stop giving people those degrees dassourrr!!! You cannot enforce the usage yet you are giving them to people. Prevention is better than cure.

  The essence of higher education is to effect change in society. If as PhD holders in our universities you can't change our society but only flaunt those academic titles in our faces, and jealously guard them against their usage of those titles, then those titles are as useless as those wannabe Professors and Doctorate degree holders.

It's important to recognize that these academics are doing the best they can with the limited resources available to them, which often come from European and North American sources. If there is insufficient investment in research, we cannot realistically expect to see substantial evidence of impact.

  Who told UTAG that academic titles are earned in this country? One of my lecturers at the university once told us that if you have money, you can easily buy certificates. Give us a break.

  This is what happens when we place so much importance and reliance on theory certificates rather than using pragmatic approach in developing a nation like Ghana. I keep saying that, theory PHDs and Professors could not be a solution to the country's numerous deficits. Let's shift much of our attention to Technical Educations to help solve our physical problems.

  Instead of UTAG, GTEC and others proud of hearing themselves talk or organize news conferences they should, if capable of learning from the past and from the mistakes of others, explore potential or feasible solutions if we truly want to put an end to whatever it is about titles that bother us or the fake certificates that chaps our hide in Ghana.
  
  It is quite interesting to me how members of parliament, some in the civil and public services can and do cite laws, trends and events happening abroad yet cannot figure out how those nations such as Canada, EU nations, the USA, and many other nations have minimized the number of people operating with fraudulent tertiary and postgraduate certificates.
  
  One must wonder out loud why Ghana, a nation with its education system run by a singular Ministry of Education, cannot implement credentials verification system from all institutions within the borders of Ghana or from people seeking government work who present credentials from outside of Ghana.

  Set up a centralized system to check degrees instantly, some universities have scan codes though but it doesn't bear the students name and program. Improve on it.
