This visit is appropriate and needed to demonstrate to the family that the state is still committed to their welfare and would not abandon them just because the burial is over. Additionally, it potentially offered the family ...

This visit is appropriate and needed to demonstrate to the family that the state is still committed to their welfare and would not abandon them just because the burial is over. Additionally, it potentially offered the family the opportunity to communicate potential concerns to the family - beyond the public displays during the funeral.
