Hundreds of residents, particularly women and children, have fled their homes in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District following renewed violence that erupted over a parcel of land at Gbiniyiri on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

According to a graphiconline.com report on August 27, 2025, the once bustling communities along the Sawla–Bole highway now lie idle.

The report added that villages such as Seiyiri and Nasoyiri near Sawla, as well as Bodi, Kakiase, Gbogdaa, and Doli on the road to Bole, also appear to be abandoned.

“We left everything behind, even our farms. All we want now is safety of our families,” the report quoted some distraught residents.

During a journey through the area on Monday, the reporter observed an elderly woman with a walking stick at Gbogdaa, seemingly left behind amid the chaos in the community.

Many of the displaced have sought refuge at the Sawla Police Station, in the hope of being protected from the conflict.
