This bright boy CAN GO VERY FAR in the future if he has the discipline ,focus, resilience, tenacity and endurance ,humility and the ability to learn from his mistakes and that of others.
** MERELY BEING EXTREMELY BRIGHT DOES NOT ENSURE EVENTUAL GREAT ACHIEVEMENT IN LIFE.
Hopefully he will get great mentors who can help him along the way.
At several decades I can look back and remember many of the brightest and smartest student in my Primary and Secondary school era. Alas, for the most part many of my school or class mates who were extremely very bright academically the did not accomplish much later in life. Many of these bright folk ended up in very mediocre positions and in some cases even ended up performing far below what was expected of them in life. In contrast I can count on both hands many school mates who were regarded academically as not very bright academically ( D,E or even F grade material) who went on to eventually far outperform their " very bright" brethren . I do remember some of these "bottom of the class folk" being condescendingly referred to as "dense" by teachers or schoolmates) LOOKING BACK NOW I CAN SEE THAT IN THE END WHAT MATTERED MOST IN ACHIEVING SIGNIFICANT SUCCESS IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE WAS CHARACTER. IT APPEARS THAT WHAT REALLY MATTERS AS FAR AS EXCELLENCE AND GREAT SUCCESS IS CONCERNED ARE THE FOLLOWING WINNING CHARACTER TRAITS :
1.HARD WORK,
2.PATIENCE,
3.CAREFUL LONG-TERM STRATEGIC PLANNING,
4.TENACITY (OR STAYING POWER),
5.COURAGE
6.THE ABILITY TO ENDURE AND OVERCOME ADVERSITY OR SETBACKS
7.THE ABILITY TO LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES,
8.THE ABILITY TO AVOID DISTRACTIONS (IN OTHER WORDS THE ABILITY TO FOCUS LIKE A LASER ON WHAT REALLY MATTERED).
9.THEY WERE VERY DISCIPLINED IN THEIR SPENDING HABITS AND THE USE OF THEIR TIME,
10.MOST HAD A GENEROUS SPIRIT SINCE THEIR SCHOOL DAYS AND LONG BEFORE THEY BECAME VERY WEALTHY OR REACHED "THE TOP OF THEIR GAME".
Most interestingly many of these eventual high achievers demonstrated great integrity (honesty) and many clearly lived lives guided by faith and moral principles.
THESE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE BUILT SUCCESS BRICK BY BRICK OVER MANY YEARS. None of the ones I am acquainted with attained the great heights they reached because suddenly came into positions of influence or suddenly won a big lottery and became "overnight success stories". I am privileged to be well acquainted with some of these very successful individuals and their families and The recurring message that stands out is that THERE IS NO SHORTCUT TO REAL AND ENDURING SUCCESS IN ANY SPHERE OF LIFE.
