Even though it is not fair for both the Police and the judge to unnecessarily extend the period of remand, it is a practice that goes on every day, every month and throughout the years in our Police stations and courts. There people who have been in our prisons for years without being judged guilty of any offence. It is only when a member of the political class is made to suffer this indignity that there is hue and cry about it.

  It's in parliament that ndc and npp MPs have come to terms only when it comes to salaries, allowances or loans for cars. Apart from that they always show their political colours in every issue that borders on policies and programmes. The judge sitting on Abronye's case has raised a concern where ndc and npp members have come together to condemn him in no uncertain terms. I see it as a good sign because it's high time we call a spade, a spade rather than a party will call it a spade and the other will call it a tool. In Ghana a party member dare not speak against his own party action or inaction. Though the judiciary is independent but since ndc and npp have come out to condemn the judge's action is laudable. It's good ndc members are moving away from a situation where they will use all their might to justify the judge's action simply because Abronye is npp man so he can rot in custody. I hope npp will reciprocate same if in future similar thing occurs during their tenure.
