  Laughable, indeed. The chief has ordered that all animals must be slaughtered at the Municipal abattoir. What happens to all that slaughtered meat if not used by vendors to make their street corner kebab? What of restaurants and and bars, if these are also using stolen animal meat in their businesses, how is the chief to know? When the chief imposed this ban on those kebab vendors, did it ever cross his mind that these vendors may not be the only ones patronizing stolen animal meat? Does that chief think his orders are more effective in curbing the theft of animals than the Police can do to bring culprits to justice? That order makes no sense, and the chief should let the Police do the work assigned to them: to investigate thefts and bring culprits to justice.

  This directive does not sit well with me. Animals can be slaughter at the abartoir, yet no one can sell kebab with meat bought from there. I struggle to get this.

  This is the problem of chieftaincy in Ghana. Chiefs spit out orders, the citizens are supposed to follow these orders without questions asked, even when those orders are plainly stupid or counter-productive. Disobey those orders and one is labeled a trouble-maker, disrespectful, and is either summoned to answer to the chief, ostracized, or banned, and in some cases, attacked by royal sycophants. There are laws that dictate what Ghanaians can and can't do. Yet some chiefs see it fit to bark out orders without the need of consulting with law enforcement authorities or legal experts. That order is nothing but a senseless order, and it's time for citizens to start hauling these chiefs to court when they issue orders that abridge the rights of citizens. This is an order that has no specific date of expiration. What then should businesses that depend on making kebab for their livelihood do while this chief sits in his palace without realizing how stupid his order is? And why single out kebab makers? Are restaurant owners not also capable of buying stolen animal meat for use in their restaurants?
