Judges are also human beings who have emotions. They like a party or not but we want to see them put politics aside and make fair judgements. I have never been in favour of removing judges but Torkornoo’s judgement would have resulted in violence at some point had she stayed on. Good riddance.

If anything at all, it should be a neutral civil society group that should protest if the judiciary has been wrongly touched. The fact that a political party, I mean an opposition political party who brought this Torkono woman are lamenting uncontrollably should tell you that they have lost a big political asset. This same woman was in an unnecessary banter with the speaker of parliament and you were in support of it. Parliament can be touched by the judiciary but the judiciary is untouchable abi? Mahama has really proven that everybody including himself can be held accountable for how we handle affairs in this country. This is good precedence for mother Ghana. Now the judiciary will ensure that there are no major faults else the same pattern will be repeated. Not even chief justice is above the law.

Rather Salam Mustapha and all politicians must come to terms with the real lessons that must be learnt in the sacking of Gertrude Torkornoo as CJ.
The first lesson is that, a CJ must know that he/she is not there to do the bidding of the president who appointed him/her to oppress the opposition. In that regard, it is a certainty that if the opposition comes to power, they will have no choice but to sack that CJ. This is because no government or president would be willing to work with a CJ they have no confidence in. It is therefore surprising that, Madam Torkornoo, after consistently oppressing the opposition NDC to please the NPP government, still wants to continue to be CJ under NDC regime.
The second lesson is that, it is a futile action for a president to bypass all the senior judges at the SC and appoint their juniors by far as CJ hoping that he/she can be in office for a long time to be able to do his party's bidding even if they are out of power.

No one is indispensable in the country and the Torkornoo was fired after going through an established process. Justice Baffoe is the right person to succeed Torkornoo.
