  3. Cabinets and Vanities - I do not think Ghana has the industrial strength to be a mass marketer in this area. I think China, Turkey and such countries are the big exporters to the US. If Ghana is in this export market, they would likely be in the artisanal space with high margins and low volumes. I don't expect them to b really hit but I will be looking at the effects going foward. However, if China, Turkey, Vietnam etc. lose market share in the US, they may look elsewhere for markets. This could have the effect of reducing prices in Ghana, not increasig (assuming the importers do not use this news as excuse to raise prices, which they will actually likely do, come to think of it).
  4. Upholstered furniture is the same reasoning as kitched cabinet issue.
  5. Lumber and wood products - The wood from African forests is not wood that can be substituted in the US. I do wood working on the side and the tropical woods from Africa, Asia and south America can not be grown in America. If I need Sapele, I have to get it from a Tropical country. Same for Rosewood etc. This means that our volumes will not drop significatly. I would think, and hope, that our negotiators can get carve outs for these type of products. It would be much simpler for the Americans to agree to these.
  I'm speaking in very simple terms as this is an online comment. We can have more substantive policy discussions in other fora.

  Whoever wrote is indeed dumb! If drug imports to the US are going to be expensive, wouldn’t that by extension help ghana as they drugs will have to be sold cheaper elsewhere to make up for loss of US sakes ?
