The inconsolable Akuffo Addo babies are having a field day because one of their exploitative multinational partners in crime has managed to openly "swerve" a sympathetic minister of state and in the process, to make both the govt and the nation - including the mentally retarded cheerleaders themselves, look stupid.

What Sam George should now do is to come out to apologize for intervening on behalf of all the local goons who seem to have more money than brains and who therefore subscribe to DSTV (mainly for football). He should then proceed, as DSTV has done, to also make a U-turn and nullify the beneficial bargains he won for the Ghanaian subscribers. He should then request the reimposition of all the original unfavorable charges, impose additional service taxes on foreign broadcasters and leave the matter at that. We cannot continue, with the connivance of local house-niggers and sellouts, to allow the economy of our country to be undermined by foreign operations in any way.

I must confess that I am a bit disappointed in Sam George - as the sector Minister, for lowering his status to personally engage himself in this relatively insignificant matter in the way he did and in the process, allowing his good name and the prestige of the nation to be soiled by an unprincipled and more importantly, a dishonest foreign TV company. This country can live with, or preferably, without the high subscriber fees of the services of Dstv (Multichoice) and ultimately Canal+ of France, a multinational media company who now own the company.

What the Minister should be more worried about are the political undertones, operational compliance and moral content of all - especially multinational broadcasting companies in our space. Many countries - including France for example, have had cause in recent times, to terminate the services of foreign media organizations operating in their countries for reasons which were bluntly put as inappropriate content and activities. Tik-Tok of China suffered same fate in the American market, Russia Today has been likewise barred in several Western countries as the BBC has been barred from time to time in many countries around the world. Interestingly, the entire international services of the Voice of America (VOA) has also recently been terminated by the American govt itself. It is therefore perfectly normal for national entities to boot out.

The Minister should rise above the pettiness of bargaining on the details of whatever packages the DSTV has to offer and relegate these to the NCA. He should then assume full ministerial control of all business and supervisory activities of the sector.
