The same way PNDC destroyed Christianity in Ghana by promoting One Man Churches in the 80s. He felt the clergy of the orthodox churches(Presby,Methodist, Anglican, Roman etc) were carrying too much power.

Some backroom dealings stopped the law firm from handling the case. The GBA know that they will lose this case because it flies in the face of the constitution.

The Ghanaian constitution is a circular one which heavily relies on freedom of association.

Therefore a voluntary association CANNOT impose itself on everyone. The GBA is scared to its marrow.

We still have a not so strong democratic culture thus the need to strengthen rather than destroy the thriving institutions such as the GBA. Should the SC rule in favour of the suit, all lawyers will suffer the consequences because, then why be exclusively be allowed to serve on any constitutional body. Why not GPRTU, Charcoal sellers association, etc. Infact lawyers whether in association or not will not have any excusive privileges.
It could also be stretched to exclude the National House of Chiefs, etc and for that matter any 'private' association from serving on any constitutional body. Meanwhile some of these bodies have been empowered to even serve on Boards of Commissions, etc. So the wider implication is dire.
