For eight long years, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ruled Ghana — not with the people, but with his family, friends, and close allies. What began as a promise of transformation and prosperity has turned into disappointment for many who once believed in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its message of change.

Under Akufo-Addo’s administration, loyalty and personal connection became more valuable than competence and intelligence. Many brilliant and visionary NPP members were ignored, while appointments went to those whose main qualification was friendship or family ties. What we have seen is a government filled with confusion, arrogance, and waste — one that has lost touch with the very people it vowed to serve.

Ghana is paying the price for this “family and friends” governance. The economy is struggling, youth unemployment has soared, corruption scandals have become the norm, and hope has faded in the hearts of hardworking citizens. The once-promising dream of a new Ghana has been replaced by frustration and hardship.

In sharp contrast stands John Dramani Mahama — a leader who believes in merit, education, and collective wisdom. Mahama surrounds himself with professors, technocrats, and policy experts — men and women who understand governance and are ready to serve with competence and humility. His vision is clear: a Ghana built on expertise, accountability, and opportunity for all.

As Ghana approaches another election, the choice before us is simple yet crucial:
Do we continue with a government built on nepotism and personal loyalty, or do we embrace leadership grounded in knowledge, integrity, and progress?

The time has come for Ghanaians to demand better — to reject mediocrity and reward merit. Our nation deserves leadership that works for everyone, not just a privileged few.

Ghana must rise again — through wisdom, not favoritism; through competence, not connections.

You seem to be sadly misinformed about Ghana's social structures. The people on the "who is who" list in Ghana, be it by reasons of academic credentials earned at the post graduate levels, business acumen, wealth /riches, influence peddling and political connections are the result of government monies and subsidies; none made it without government infusion of help via scholarship, contracts, political appointments or funds from financial institutions via political connections.

To find true equity is to live in an ideal world where each Ghanaian is born into families that can afford the basics in life to compete at every turn in life. People were not accepted into secondary/SHS solely on examination scores. People do not live in villages or small towns because of hard-work or failure to work hard or because of education level. To compare a person who completed a 2nd or 3rd tier secondary/SHS with someone who attended 1st tier SHS/secondary and subsequent progressions is to assume that teachers at all secondary/SHS institutions across Ghana do have identical qualifications/credentials.

Do all Ghanaians get political appointments be it as a measure of the educational level and qualifications? The heroes of our times in Ghana are those who have survived adversities brought on by the evils of NPP of old when Kwame Nkrumah governed and those who have gone through tortured NPP-NDC political governance.
