My own daughter who had aggregate 8 from a public school was denied of her first choice at Achimota to read Home Econs. I was called to pay ₵20,000 ₵15,000 ₵10,000. If only and only if I wanted Achimota for my daughter. Another person said she alone has sent over 200 list to the ministry, hence can not help to add my daughter name.
She'd Eng. 1, Maths 1, Science 1, Social Std 3, Computing 1 and Creative Arts 1. The rest were 2...
Yet aggregate 25, 20, 15, 19, 12 etc were admitted at the same Achimota read Science. Shamed on you criminals.

The issue at stake is that of simple Demand and Supply, in a somewhat Free Market Situation. Where everyone wants the best, without much restrictions, and demand outstripping supply at all times. Raising the entrance requirements alone, therefore, in our kind of environment, where moral standards are falling gradually, at a constant rate; with poor remuneration for workers/teachers; coupled with the protocol admissions leeway; any underhand dealings cannot be stopped easily. The only feasible way is a conscious and deliberate effort:
(1) to improve on the quality of teaching and learning across the board; and
(2) to also increase the supply of the elite schools (public and private) to close the demand and supply gap.

We live in a very Corrupt society and the govt shd have been aware.For now the Credibility of all the A Graded has been affected. Majority of the students who gained admission to these schools did not go on Merit.

Simplicita auditors should be sent into these category A schools and throw out anyone who got over 15+ . There are too many students with 8s and 9s who were placed in category Bs and C schools. At this age we are teaching the young ones corruption. And we don’t understand why the country is overwhelmed with corruption. Very simple audit the grades of the students in the schools.

The original objective was to ensure fairness in the admission of students. Unfortunately, it has now turned into a money-making venture for the GES, ministers, headmasters, and their cronies. The main issue lies in the so-called “protocol slots” — some schools receive over a thousand of these, which are then sold for money. Top schools are reportedly charging more than GHS 30,000, and in some cases, parents have paid as much as GHS 50,000 yet still couldn’t secure admission for their wards.

This country has indeed become deeply corrupt. The NDC has failed Ghanaians by allowing such practices to continue unchecked. The situation is worsening, and as usual, no one will be held accountable because the entire system is corrupt from top to bottom.

This is exactly why I am determined to do everything possible to leave this country with my family.
