Crooks' room is a source of pride, and he keeps it quite neat. Crooks' room is a masterpiece of understatement, and its very nature shows how Crooks is different from the other ranch hands. Much of the room is filled with boxes, bottles, harnesses, leather tools, and other job-related accouterments.

Crooks is physically separated from the other workers on the ranch because of his race{you know what I mean!}. This literal isolation makes him angry and bitter towards people when they do approach him, demonstrating the damaging effects of loneliness.

What quote shows Crooks is lonely?
"I tell ya, a guy gets too lonely and he gets sick." The negative effects of loneliness are described almost as if it's a disease. Crooks is segregated from the other ranch workers because of his race.
