  Good idea. But the plan will not do any good if those caught with illegally possessing guns don't get stiff sentences in court. Gun proliferation and galamsey are the two huge problems that the government needs to tackle with urgency. Too many guns in the hands of many Ghanaians is making the lives of Ghanaians unsafe, and getting worse daily. It wasn't too long ago when Ghana was a safe country, with citizens travelling late night without fear of being attacked, nor was there the rampant killings that common today. Ghanaians will be willing to give up their guns, provided they can be assured that the security agencies will be there to ensure their safety. Ghana can look at societies where guns are readily available to their citizens; the murder rates in those societies are often very high, and almost uncontrollable. Act now to curb the gun menace, or risk becoming a war zone instead of a safe nation.
