As a fire safety consultant, am expecting to see a sprinkler system in the shop since the building is over 20,000 square meter. Was fire detection systems installed and functioning as it should be?
What about fire safety awareness training given to staff and security personnel.?. I believe CCTV cameras are installed to deter arson attack but the way the building was razed I don’t believe they could be a lead for evidence. I see so many infractions but looking at the nature of smoke I suspect the fire might start a device with lithium ion battery. This is a thermal energy runaway type of fire. Once it start, u can stop the fire.

Once a lithium battery fire starts, it can be unusually intense and hard to extinguish, which is why prevention is so much more important.

Here are some practical steps you can take in your home

1. Use quality batteries/devices and certified chargers

2. Charge devices on a hard, flat, non-combustible surface, not on a bed/sofa where fabrics trap heat.

3. Avoid charging devices in very hot or very cold places. For many lithium-ion batteries you shouldn’t charge below ~0 °C or above ~40 °C (~32°F or 105°F) according to one guideline.

4. Don’t leave devices plugged in unattended for long periods (especially overnight) if you can avoid it.

5. If a battery appears damaged (bulged, leaking, overheated, odd smell) stop using it immediately.

6. Make sure your home is fire-ready
Have working smoke alarms (and check/test them monthly).

7. Don’t bank solely on being able to extinguish a lithium battery fire yourself—call emergency services if it’s spreading.
