Unless the recce team is a "fighting" at same time. The Commander could have passed quietly and then have an operation launched with more soldiers and support weapons. With nine of you and you had to launch an operation because you notice something untoward is an error and the outcome is what we have seen. The soldiers were not even in a position to fire to repel the mob. I hope the lesson is learnt. The two MPs in the centre of this should answer questions whether both were present in the area or far away. With social media you don't need to be at the spot to mobilise (Gen Z) young men to resist the arrests.
