The only issue that I have is, it is a church. However, private prisons are common. A prison like this will offer reforms to low-level offenders. I don't think the worse of the worst will be housed there.

There are women resorting to prostitution to feeds their families. The documentary, Sex for Fish, highlights this problem. And the Church of Pentecost thought it was wise to ease the sufferings of adults who made the choice to commit a crime? I get it that life circumstances may be responsible for some the incarceration, but isnt there a better use of their money, as far as the gospel of Christ is concerned?

Yes, children studying under trees is a problem that should be placed at the feet of our corrupt politicians. Most of the ills of our society could be placed at the feet of our politicians, who steal the livelihoods of the fathers and rob the children of their future. So for the sake of the greater good of our country, couldn't the resources for this prison, for example, have gone into campaign against the rot in our political system to ensure our leaders focus on building the country well for everybody to decrease incarceration?

In case you are blind to what's going on in Ghana, these "churches", with prophecies galore to steer who we elect as our president, are in cahoots with our politicians to rape the country. They do some good now and then, but their evil deeds are also known by all.

I dont know about you, but the choice between helping innocent children whose futures are being robbed by the thieves in our government versus alleviating the pain of a suffering adult who made the decision to commit a crime is an easy one for me. Not that I disagree with your point.

Read about how many prisoners learn trade in prison in the West, get released, and return to the same crimes that sent them to prison in the first place.

What the Church of Pentecost has done would help a fraction of prisoners. While the church's action may be commendable, in my view and as others have mentioned, that money would have been better spent correcting problems that sent these people to prison.

Try not to paint Christianity in racial terms. God's intent has always been the salvation of all of humanity regardless of race. It was a promise made in the Garden of Eden, and more eloquently through Abraham (through your seed, all nations will be blessed"). But more to your point, Jesus had to come to earth through human agency. Let me ask you a question: if God the Father had chosen His son to come to earth through black parentage, how would you feel if Europeans, Asians, Middle Easterners, or South Americans say he's the God for blacks only?

The Europeans have as much axe to grind as you about Jesus's racial background, because Jesus WAS also NOT white like them. He was Jewish and Middle Eastern. But you dont hear Europeans claiming Christianity is a religion for Middle Easterners only. Europeans were converted to Christianity the same way Africans were: through hearing and responding to the gospel. Again Jesus died for all and not just for one race of people.

Sure, we knew the Almighty God before the Europeans brought the gospel to our shores. The Europeans didnt introduce God to us! They introduced God's plan to universalize humanity's recognition and worship of him.

When it comes to SHS admissions you all want your children to attend the top schools, which invariably are schools built by the church. You do not even recognize or appreciate the role of the church in educating the entire country. You have not seen, attended or heard of all the hospitals the church has built and operates in this country. So, the church builds a prison to help alleviate the suffering of human beings in prison and this is what you say about it. The day you close relative ends up in prison and you a visit to them, and you see the conditions there, then you will know how ignorant you have been in judging the church for doing the right thing.

The church leadership did poor communication on this matter. First, were church members informed and sensitized about the project before launching? Second, is the project being undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior? If the government will support the running of the facility, was Parliament involved with the establishment of a private prison? Inasmuch as this sounds reasonable, there are more questions than answers about the legal implications of establishing a private prison. In the minimum there has to be a legislative instrument (L.l.) to back such projects. And it should not be for the church to build and manage prisons, no matter any good intentions behind the project.

I will rather suggests for "Rehabilitation Camp" for those who have come out of sentenced prisons. That is the expectation of many Ghanaians. Many that come out of prison have no opportunity of reha-bilitation programes to reintergrate back into the society and even thier families. Prison Camp is not the best. Rehabilitation Center! This surely divides opinion. But they have already built it. Their next social intervention project should be a factory or some work creation venture to create jobs for the same people who would have committed petty crimes to survive the harsh economy who will end up in that same prison. If there are numerous opportunities for work the crime rate will reduce.

This move by Pentecost is innovative as prison inmates mostly come out of the prison extra hardened. Like Jesus, the church hasn’t abandoned the sinners in prison, rather has accommodated them beautifully as well as getting them habilitated: this is Jesus’ mindset. Praise Jesus!!! Having said this, in the longer term, church must invest in job creations for the innocent in order to have a balance objective.

We always applaud and ask for more support when churches and other organizations donate to prison inmates... But have problems with this.

I do not know the vision of the church for this prison. Let's, consider some factors. There is always going to be criminals so why don't we build a facility that can rehab them back to society. A place to show them the love of Jesus Christ, teach them about Jesus Christ, and give them a skill to help win them from crime. I think we can use this for positive initiatives. Also, this is to help the nation to house criminals. It will save the nation revenue. It will give the nation a proper place to house offenders. I think this is very good.

They want to build a new parliament house so that they increase number of constituencies and by so doing, parliament expenditure will go up. Do we have VIP rooms for politicians? I know for sure more politicians, npp politicians, will go to jail and npp will do same to ndc appointees. They shouldn't jail politicians in the newly built prisons so that they feel the heat small so that they can reform very well. COP, must intensify tithe collection and those who are dragging their feet must be sent to the prisons built by the church so that they reform after experiencing what tithe can do.
