The 24 hr Economy is a process and not an event. The government has 4 years to fulfill its promises, so be patient. They cannot do everything at a go. Some people had 8 years and wasted it all.

Are these caterers not going to charge government if they use the food items donated to them to prepare food for the school kids? Such donations must rather go to orphanages. Politicians in Ghana have turned citizens to cocks and always feed us with our own combs. Is the money from his own pocket? We'll hear after 2028!

Sounds good, but the real and end beneficiaries of this gesture are the caterers, who mostly happen to be party women organizers and other party apparatchiks as rewards in disguise, and not the school children. The caterers will still be paid by the government for using those food items to feed the children.

The School Feeding Programme has a nutrition component as one of its goals, with prescribed menus and recipes guided by the Ministry of Health.

As an Agric Deputy Minister, his role in the School Feeding Programme is to assist his Minister leverage on the ready market that the programme provides with a secured source of regular taxpayers funding, to enhance Food Security and thereby help eradicate post harvest losses and rural poverty. This is also one of the goals of the School Feeding Programme.

This populist gesture of mere donations of food items to some few caterers will not help in these directions. His focus should therefore be, on how to attract, through a well coordinated effort, the over GHC500 million of taxpayers money, allocated each year to the School Feeding Programme, that has been going into the purchase of imported food items, to our local farmers. The ball is in his (government) court, Ghanaian taxpayers must benefit fully from their taxes and not some few importers and farmers in Vietnam, Burkina Faso, Niger and some other places.
