A very useless analysis. If imports have become cheap, it might as well go in favour of farmers who import other products for their farms. If by way of strengthening the cedi artificially or naturally similar or same goods are imported at cheaper prices, is it not a blessing for the consumers who are the main target for production? Local farmers can diversify production to reduce production cost and compete better. Most of our local farmers like the market women are just wicked and always seek to enjoy consumer exploitations. To hell with this gibberish post.

This man seems empty. Poultry farmers also import a lot. This egg glut is a result of high prices in the market; hence, consumers have developed a taste for other cheaper substitutes. Now they don't even buy eggs.

Ghana is not a serious when it comes to the poultry

We need to have a deep introspection in order to arrive at a much more promising future, that is how come the Chinese have come this far. Self sufficiency is the basis and then when u get to export stage the sky is the limit.

The man's outcry is very much misplaced. As much as it is good not to rely heavily on imports, local producers also have the responsibility of cushioning local consumers at an equilibrium but it appears our local industries are much interested in short term super profits at the expense of local consumers which is very bad. The cedi stabilization can not be a detriment to local productions when goods are produced on large scale bases for potential exports also. If local farmers are serious enough, they should also produce to target foreign markets and stop being myopic and primitive. They can sell their eggs at reduced prices or throw them away.

Prices of medication for. the birds are still high, the birds just don't lay eggs without the support of these medication As a farmer, currently selling my eggs between 48 and 35 Ghana cedis for the big and the smaller ones. The market women are the ones pushing prices high. Profits of poultry farmers don't match their input . Ghana is not a serious country when it comes to poultry industry . When did they start importing eggs into this country? I never knew until now. We are now importing gari, we shall import cocoa,palm oil, gold, women and anything the money launderes will target.

Don't poultry farmers also import feed and other inputs with the appreciated cedi.? So why are they still maintaining old prices. Let remind you the price of a bowl of maize has reduced from 25-30 cedis 10 cedis and a ball of kenkey is still selling 5 cedis. That is Ghanaian for you. Appreciated cedi is across board to the larger extent.

What does he mean by artificial strengthening of the cedi? If it were that easy, why didn't his beleaguered NPP government truly 'arrest the runaway cedi? Where I leave, there is no glut of eggs on the shelves. What theory is he propounding then? To satisfy his NPP surrogates and nation wreckers. Look, a stronger cedi is much more beneficial to Ghana than one can imagine. If prices of goods and services become relatively cheaper in the external market, more of these goods like vehicles, machines, equipment, expertise, etc would be imported to promote the developmental agenda of the government. Provisions and other goods also become cheaper and these help to improve the standard of living. If eggs are abundant in his area, let's redistribute these to even schools and collages with an equilibrium price in mind. Why can't we once give credit to government for the successes chalked so far? What is it wrong with you?

So in reality there is no egg glut because the price of egg on the market has not dropped, but chicken farmers and egg importers aim to make more profit at the expense of their fellow citizens.
